About Studio North

Twenty years ago, Mike Notman was a freelance press photographer working for national newspapers and magazines in and around his native Cumbria, this all changed when he decided to take on the more romantic and tender subject of wedding and portrait photography. Very soon, armed with the support of his wife Margaret, one thousand pounds, a battered Pentax, two lenses, a Vivitar flash gun, and a prayer, Studio North was born.

Located in Cecil Street, Carlisle, Studio North is now one of Cumbria's leading photography houses, and has won numerous Kodak and Fuji Bridal awards. Mike attributes his success to the old press photographers eye and the rapport he builds between himself and each couple.

Mike is an associate of the Master Photographers Association and a Licentiate of the British Institute of Professional Photography.

Mike & Margaret also offer FREE ADVICE on legal weddings over the anvil in Gretna Green. Remember wedding services and wedding bureau's charge fees and commissions. It is easy to make your own wedding arrangements allowing you to have freedom of choice which can save you hundreds of pounds. Contact Mike or Margaret and they can put you in direct touch with the blacksmiths shops, ministers, hotels, cars, carriages etc etc. We do not charge any fees, just offer helpful advice.

Portfolios and Albums

As we offer only the very best in Wedding Photography, and to complement our award winning work we use only quality accessories to display your day.

You can choose from various options such as leather bound albums, unique Studio North Portfolios, or you might also want a classic framed canvas print, for the ultimate in luxury.

A special memento for both of your new in-laws might be a gold embossed album.

Would you like to be different and have sepia or black and white photographs? We can provide these for you.

Fees and payment

At Studio North, each commission is unique, and tailor made to match your needs exactly, therefore we like to discuss your requirements before agreeing a price.
To secure Studio North as your wedding photographer, we recommend you contact us as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. We require a deposit of 50% of the agreed cost, the balance to be paid on the day of your wedding. Payment can be made by cash, cheque, and major credit cards.

You can be assured that when you chose Studio North for your Wedding Portfolio, your special day will be forever immortalised with stunning results.
